It was nice to meet with many of you during our Parent/Teacher Interview night and talk to some of you on the phone. I believe good communication plays a role in your child's success at school :)
Remembrance
Day
The students were very respectful and attentive during our school's
Remembrance Day ceremony in the gym. Each class made a wreath with poppies. All these wreaths were then brought up and
placed together. They are now on display in our front foyer. Here is our classroom wreath.
Winter clothing
The
temperature has dropped and the snow is here! Please continue to send
your child to school ready to play outside with a warm coat, hat, mitts, snowpants and boots. Unless it is below -25C, children will be outside
enjoying winter so it is important that your
child is dressed warmly. Please make sure to label every piece of clothing with
your child's name as items of clothing are often misplaced.
In November we are working on:
Math - Data Management (sorting, graphing and creating surveys/interprenting data)
Reading - Guided reading with small leveled groups, using visualizing (creating mental images, using all senses) to connect the texts
Writing - Writing sentences, adding more details, phonetic spelling, using WWW in writing
Science - Describing materials and objects
Religion - Road to Bethlehem
Fully Alive - Living in Relationships
Health & Phys. Ed - Health and healthy eating, movement skills and active participation
The Arts - Music
The students are working hard on filling up our classroom "reward" jar with loose parts :) Every time the students work well as a team and show good collaboration, critical thinking, smooth transitions or acts of kindness, they earn a new piece. Once the jar is full, we will brainstorm the "reward" ideas! I will keep you posted how we are doing :)
Thank you for your continued support.
